About the Founder

Elżbieta Jabłońska is the Founder and Legal Representative of the Bhutan–Poland Friendship Society, established in 2008. In its renewed form, the Society is registered in the city of Toruń, Poland.

Her interest in the Kingdom of Bhutan began in the early 2000s and has grown into more than two decades of academic, professional, and personal engagement. Her academic work focuses on Bhutan’s distinctive philosophy of Gross National Happiness, with particular interest in visionary leadership, governance, wellbeing, longevity, and sustainable development. She has also explored the leadership of the Kings of Bhutan as a unique model of values-based leadership and national development.

Since 2010, she has engaged with Bhutanese institutions, professionals from a range of fields, and local communities, contributing to initiatives related to mental health, wellbeing, longevity, leadership, entrepreneurship, education, and social development. She currently contributes to Bhutan in different capacities — as an Advisor, Board Member, and long-standing friend — while also supporting the vision of Gelephu Mindfulness City, particularly in the areas of health, wellbeing, and longevity.

Over the years, she has become an internationally recognized speaker and advocate of Bhutan’s development philosophy, presenting Bhutan’s experience and the principles of Gross National Happiness at universities, international conferences, policy forums, and the European Parliament. Through her lectures, publications, and advisory work, she has helped promote greater international understanding of Bhutan’s unique approach to wellbeing, visionary leadership, sustainable development, and the philosophy of Gross National Happiness, while contributing to international dialogue surrounding the vision of Gelephu Mindfulness City.

What began as a deep connection with Bhutan has, over the years, become part of her life — a country long held in her heart, and now her second home.
